I hope y'all voted for who you want to stay from "Make Me a Supermodel" last night. While that was happs, I was at opening night of "November" starring Nathan Lane and directed by my pal, white hot double Tony Winning director Joe Mantello. And did I mention that fella called David Mamet wrote the play? We are talking Broadway with caps B, peeps.
It's a big ass deal that David Mamet wrote a new play. It's a comedy about a super-unpopular idiot President who's also kind of an asshole and in a wee moral crisis of his own making. Does this ring any bells? I guess Mamet took a little creative license by making him only kind of an a-hole. It's nice to finally be able to laugh at the notion of an ass in the Oval, and the Oval is where the whole play happens. Nathan Lane and the play are hilarious. I loved it.

So did fellow first nighters Kristen Johnston, Matthew Broderick, John Benjamin Hickey, Jerry Seinfeld, Mariska Hargitay (who has a mean handshake), Neil Simon, Cherry Jones, Terrence McNally, Robbie Baitz, Ron and Iva Rifkin, Marc Shaiman with Scott Whittman, Andy Pellik, Joe Machota, John Slattery with Thalia Balsam, and Victor Garber. The party was supercrowded but we found a nook and dug in. I have always loved funnylady "November" star (and ""Roseanne" alum) Laurie Metcalf, and I'm overflowing now that I see that her passion for "Project Runway" is unmatched. By the way, people at the party seemed very into the Avant Garde Challenge.
