Season 2 of "Shear Genius" starts tonight at 10 PM EST and I'm excited! We've got great challenges this year (Real Housewives makeovers, Charlie's Angels), a new lead judge (Kim Vo), the always adorable Rene Fris, with the white hot glittering superstar Jaclyn Smith driving the bus.
Our marketing team put together an unbelievable event smack in the middle of Times Square yesterday where all of this season's stylists gave free blow-outs to anybody who showed up. It was a gorgeous day and everyone was happy. What put the thing over the top was students from the School of Visual Arts who designed UNBELIEVABLE one-of-a-kind salon chairs.
You can see all the amazing pieces of art HERE on our "Shear Genius" page - vote on your favorite chair and the winning artist will get five grand. I know you'll all be checking out the "Shear" site on Bravotv.com but heads up, kids - the fine folks over at BloggingProjectRunway have launched a "Shear Genius" site right HERE! We are happy they're blogging the show. And a shout out to Tom and Lorenzo who continue to hurl bitchery and bon mots our way as well.
How does Jeff Lewis celebrate Zoila's birthday? Find out the answer to that and more burning questions tonight on "Flipping Out".
Last night was the NYC Gay and Lesbian Community Center's Annual Garden Party Fund Raiser on the piers. The theme was food and there were booths there from superfine restaurants like The Spotted Pig (April Bloomfeld herself was serving) and Jean Georges. There were also booths from less fine restaurants like Lips, the Village eatery that is the Planet Hollywood of drag and not exactly known for their culinary sophistication.
TC finalist Lisa Fernandez was roaming around doing some interviewing for the Center. I think it would be fair to say that Lisa is pissed that she didn't win and thinks she should've.
I hope y'all enjoyed the TC reunion. To summarize: Tom wore a vest, Top Chef Stephanie added fan favorite to her list of accolades, Zoi and Jen may or may not be splitsville, Andrew got a culinary boner t-shirt (for sale HERE), and Lisa said she's not a meanie.
I have meetings walltowall today in LA so I am going to share a little evergreen Viewer Mail that we taped a couple days ago. Enjoy!
You didn't know that? Me either... But, hold on a minute...
In the Bravo Bullion this ayem is: what did you think of last night's premiere of "Flipping Out"? And can I give a shout out please to tonight's premiere of the me-hosted "Top Chef Chicago Reunion" at 10 EST? Thanks for letting me plug myself, so to speak. Tonight you'll find out who wins fan favorite, what's behind Lisa's scowl, on which chef Gail is crushing, and you'll giggle at never been seen footage.
Oh hey have you missed Liza Persky's "39 Second Single" as much as the rest of the universe at large? Well, she's back with a bonus episode that takes place entirely in a jacuzzi with her gay boyfriend, me. So click HERE to see Liza and me talking about stuff in a jacuzzi. (And then click back and read the rest of this blog.)
Hey tonight is the premiere of Season 2 of "Flipping Out"! I have gotten almost weekly emails wondering when Jeff, Jenny, and Zoila are returning. The time is now, peoples!
Yesterday was an amazing one, spent mainly in the grand ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria for the Peabody Awards, where "Project Runway" was honored along with 35 other TV and Radio shows and stories including the "Colbert Report", "30 Rock", "Mad Men", "60 Minutes" and "Sunday Morning".
Heidi was very Veronica Lake all in white with 40's hair and red lips. Nina was in a blue dress that showed off her bangin' figure. Tim was a gentleman, natch. Am I the only one who thinks an animated Tim Gunn show, like Mr. Magoo, is a good idea?
Did I grab Lance Bass at the A-list Awards rehearsal to ask him if Lou Perlman tried to fiddle with the ‘N SYNC boys? You bet!
