Hey tonight is the premiere of Season 2 of "Flipping Out"! I have gotten almost weekly emails wondering when Jeff, Jenny, and Zoila are returning. The time is now, peoples!
Yesterday was an amazing one, spent mainly in the grand ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria for the Peabody Awards, where "Project Runway" was honored along with 35 other TV and Radio shows and stories including the "Colbert Report", "30 Rock", "Mad Men", "60 Minutes" and "Sunday Morning".
Heidi was very Veronica Lake all in white with 40's hair and red lips. Nina was in a blue dress that showed off her bangin' figure. Tim was a gentleman, natch. Am I the only one who thinks an animated Tim Gunn show, like Mr. Magoo, is a good idea?
Lesley Stahl was the host of the festivities, subbing for a grieving Brian Williams. Lesley shared her memories of Tim Russert involving him calling her when she had an especially good interview while hosting "Face the Nation". Her point was that for a colleague and competitor to call and give a shout out speaks a lot to the integrity of the person making the call. Right again, Lesley.
It was a great honor being onstage with everyone who makes that show so great and to be recognized with such a prestigious award. I believe "Runway" is the first reality show to garner Peabody honors. I especially loved seeing the awards that went to great investigative reporting, especially on the local level.
There seems to be a dearth of actual reporting in this day and age, has anyone else noticed that? (Maybe that is part of the reason our President has been allowed to get us into the messes we are in.) My friend Bill Owens said in an interview last week that his show "60 Minutes" is pretty much the last place around that's reporting and breaking news. He's right. There sure is a lot of noise out there, though.
