Summer Monday Word Jumble

It is Monday morning, which means two things: "Date My Ex" is on tonight, and my mind is in a jumble. Thus:

** Was I the only one who had zero interest in the Beijing Olympics
a few weeks ago and is now fully hooked and engaged? I watched Friday night's swimming with an American fashion icon who was trying to tell me that the swimmers are FAT. "Look at all their SKIN!" he kept
saying. Um, this is why there are skeletons walking the runways of
the world.

By the way, there was a piece on NPR the other day saying that all the commentators are mispronouncing "Bay-JING" as and Ameri-french-esque "Bay-SHING".

** On Sunday I went to a benefit for Barack Obama at the Sagaponic home of the great artist Ross Bleckner. (The house used to belong to Truman Capote). It was a great event, and it brought out Obama fans Itzhak Perlman, Jon Bon Jovi, Isaac Mizrahi, Jon Bon Jovi's hair, Roger Waters, Calvin Klein, Ed Burns, Christy Turlington, Caroline Kennedy and New York Governor David Patterson.

I was honored to meet the man who took over for Governor Spitzer to determine for myself just how blind he is. The answer was seemingly "as a bat." No biggie. I have every bit of faith that a blind man can lead our great state, however the man had on a very cheap suit with smudges on the lapel. This gave me cause for pause...

Isaac Mizrahi was the 'MC' of sorts of the (very informal) event, and he was hilarious. Caroline Kennedy gave a very inspiring speech, and at the end of the speeches, Isaac led the group in singing our national anthem. I was wondering if the group of jaded East-enders would go for this, but they did and it was a 'moment'. Guess what, Repubs aren't the only ones who love the flag and sing the anthem!
