Your music appears very spontaneous. Did you spend a lot of time on production or was it a one-take recording?
We actually rehearsed the songs very well before we went into the studio, so we were done recording pretty fast. We wanted this album to be really, really tight so we made sure we had a good drummer with good grooves. It was a really organic process. We did spend quite a bit of time on mixing it all in Nashville actually.
Some people say your music is gimmicky at times. What do you say about that?
We really do what we like. It was never like we sat in a big boardroom and decided to come up with a gimmick, like cutting up words and stuff like that. We are not a marketing trick. [Laughs]
You're openly-gay. Do you find that important?
It is not something political. I have no agenda at all. It is just who I am and I can't really hide it or something like that. It is not some statement I'm making.
Do you have large gay fanbase in Europe?
Not so much. I think we have more gay fans in America. I think a lot of gays in America jumped on the first album, which is typical. In Europe it is not so black or white, or straight or gay. And we had a big rainbow flag on the cover. I think that helped.
Do you get more dates now that you are an international pop star?
I don't go on dates! Plus, I have a boyfriend. When I was single, I'd just meet people out in clubs, but I didn't go on dates. A date to me is like is a big questionnaire dinner. It is like you have to sell yourself. That's all a bit awkward to me.

After many years of gay news, blogs, photos, and more, OutZoneTV.com is closing...

Nice interview. I love that Move Your Feet song they had a few years ago.

Maybe you haven't heard, but the web is stretchy. It's possible to put an entire article, even one with as many words and pictures as this one, on ONE PAGE! It's pretty sad that this interview is broken up into five pages so that you can collect 2 more cents from advertisers. I feel ripped off. for even bothering to read the first page before I realized I would have to click 5 more times to get the whole article a paragraph at a time.
