We're sad to share the news that Doug Blasdell from "WorkOut" passed away this week.
This is the official statement from Bravo: "All of us at Bravo are deeply saddened by the terrible news of Doug Blasdell’s untimely passing. He was an inspiring trainer, an exuberant colleague who made the gym a very fun place each and every day and was extraordinarily warm in all aspects of his life. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to his many friends and colleagues at this very difficult time."
Doug was born in Los Angeles and was the first to go to college in his family -- putting himself through school at the University of Southern California. In his senior year he decided that he wanted to be a trainer, and he earned a degree in Business in 1988.
We send condolences to Doug's friends and loved ones, as well as fans.

Doug was a very good friend in Northern California. Doug attended to Arbuckle Elementary in Northern California and then went to High School at Pierce High School. I knew Doug when he was in the 7th grade and then went to High School with him. With out Doug our class would have never had much. He went above and beyond to help our class in many ways. We never went with out as Doug made sure we had what we needed and then some. Doug was the main person that helped in sending our class to DisneyLand. I will never forget Doug.

hello:
my wife and i only recently started watching the show, finding it while on vacation. both me and my wife lost our parents at very early ages so we felt a bond with doug when we heard his story. plus he just seemed like the nicest guy in the world, we were immediately drawn to him. then to hear this---it sent shockwaves down our spine. I dont know if i can watch the show anymore after this.

I was shocked to hear of Doug's passing. Didn't he state on the show that no male or no one in his family lived passed the age of 43 or 44? I think that's a bizarre tragedy! Does anybody know?

Just this evening I learned of Doug's passing. Tears flow for a beautiful person who touched so many lives with his kindness and love he shared with everyone. I was hoping to learn that he had come out of the induced coma and was in recovery. It deeply saddens me that he left us. Doug, thank you for sharing yourself with the world, it is a better place from knowing you.

I cannot believe it. Last I heard, Doug was getting better! I will try not to be too sad because we should all feel happy that Doug is truly happy and good place; otherwise, it would be selfish.
My prayers go out to Doug's family and friends that will miss him daily in their lives. But, remember, Doug is watching over you all and waiting for the smiles to come back to your faces. He feels good when everyone is happy!
We will see you soon Doug...life is short.

AS an openly gay male, I find it too be quite sad the community has lost such a great role model. There are many things too learn from Doug in both life, and death. He was the main reason I watched the show, his attitude seemed so down too earth, and he seemed to have been such a sweet guy, television needs to promote more men like Doug. He will be missed by his fans.
