Renne Zellweger vs. short-term hubby Kenny Chesney gets stranger by the minute -- the second even. After a brief marriage and divorce, the couple "annulled" themselves, which technically means they didn't have sex. Reason for the split was written down as "fraud."
And then all hell broke loose. "He's gay! He's gay!" the gossipmongers screamed. And so now country singer Kenny Chesney is appearing on "60 Minutes" this Sunday to say that the word "fraud" in their divorce papers does not mean "gay."
"It's not true," Chesney tells the news program, "Period. Maybe I should have come out and said, `No, I'm not (gay),' but I didn't want to draw any more attention to it," the 38-year-old country singer says. "... I didn't have to prove to anybody that I wasn't (gay). I didn't feel like I really did."
But the rumors and innuendo have been flying at warp speed, which is either a sign of the apocalypse, or we’ve tired of calling other celebs gay that aren’t so Kenny is the new punching bag.
"We thought the least harmful (stated reason) was fraud because it (is) kind of broad ... doesn't specify," Chesney says. "And boy ... we were wrong."
Zellweger issued a statement confirming the term "fraud" was "simply legal language and not a reflection of Kenny's character."
