Rosie O'Donnell is leaving “The View.” Surprised? Neither are we. Could her tenure have been more tendentious? Tenuos? And trying?
The official reason is “contract trouble.” But Rosie paints a different picture: ''My needs for the future just didn't dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me.''
Freedom to offend whomever she wants?
All of this comes after she was criticized for using bad language during the annual New York Women in Communication luncheon on Monday where she made known her great distaste for media mogul Rupert Murdoc h. This prompted Barbara Walters to say that she “didn’t always agree with Rosie’s views.”
Ms. Walters: She's the queen of backscratching. Even if she has to butter up a media tycoon with a neo-conservative right wing agenda.
About the break with “The View” -- what is Barbara saying after years of having to clean up several of Rosie’s messes? ''I induced Rosie to come back to television on 'The View' even for just one year,'' Walters said. ''She has given the program new vigor, new excitement and wonderful hours of television. I can only be grateful to her for this year.''
