Pedro Almodovar Staging Musical

The openly gay director whose success has made him the most accomplished Spanish filmmaker of this generation, will soon finalize a script for the musical and oversee casting.

“I wrote the film, it came out of me. I want to attend to its progress -- but not get in the way of what the writer Samuel Adamson is shaping it for, for the theatre.”


Production is set to begin in September at the Old Vic theatre, owned by actor Kevin Spacey.

All About My Mother is about a mother whose son is killed in a car crash. She then embarks on a journey to discover the child’s father -- who is a transvestite. Released on film in 1999, the film was awarded an Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
