We love one-hit wonders like the next person (Daniel!) but when it starts earning them movies … we’re just not prepared to watch a biopic on Toni Basil, God rest her soul (is she dead? She’s not dead).
Nevertheless, Entertainmentwise.com has informed us that actress Mischa Barton will be starring in a forthcoming movie about faux-lesbian Russian pop duo t.A.T.u.
t.A.T.u, comprised respectively of Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, had a hit in 2002 with the song All The Things She Said. They captured America’s attention mainly through their suggestive video about two schoolgirls (played by them) in love. It was later revealed in a Russian documentary that the girls were not lesbians, rather part of an elaborate marketing plan developed by their producer.
The movie called Finding t.A.T.u. is set in the singers’ native country where the “O.C.” star is currently filming and learning the Russian language. Barton plays an American girl who bonds with a Russian girl thanks to a mutual obsession with the girl group.
“They become best friends, with crushes on each other, and attend a t.A.T.u. concert. While in Moscow, Janie develops a drug problem. The girls at some point end up killing one of their mothers.”

Has anyone noticed the irony that the faux lesbian group Tatu, who have now departed from their cheap and phoney limelight, are still quite popular in Russia?
Russia, the country where gay people get bashed and harassed just for participating in a gay pride march.
A big 'no thanks' to Russia, a big 'piss off' to Tatu, and some sage advice for Barton: maybe eat a hamburger or something.
