What sounds more rabble rousing: “Homo-wood” or “Holly-gay?” We were just wondering because, evidently, everything to do with tinsel town is in some way -- usually in a totally unexpected “I see gay people” way -- invoking a queer agenda.
For instance, this beauty of a story plucked by us from the lovely Defamer: A blog by the Illinois Review objected to the movie Shrek the Third because of the character Doris the Ugly Stepsister, a rather butch fem some are accusing of representing the transgender community.
Doris is voiced in the movie by CNN legend Larry King who, as far as we can tell, is in no way actually a lady.
Here is what the conservative group had to say:
“Shrek’s not the problem. It’s the awkward inclusion of a transvestite and the uselessness of the character himself in the story that is troubling … right in the midst of a warm “traditional family” setting, the film writers place a man dressed as a woman in with Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White. The cross-dressing character simply doesn’t make sense, except as a ploy to desensitize children and parents to transgenders.”
