Lance Bass Using Hairspray

John Travolta had the audacity to say in the press this week that Hairspray is not a gay movie. Well John Travolta, consider you and your Scientology buddies as being gay karate chopped to the neck … by Lance Bass.

The poponography blog has the news that Lance will be joining the cast of the musical version of “Hairspray” on Broadway. Who were you expecting? Joey Fatone?


According to the NY Daily News, Bass will take the role of Baltimore dance emcee Corny Collins and is set to join the production on Aug. 14, prefect timing since “Hairspray” is preparing for a 5 year anniversary.

Jerry Mathers, Darlene Love and Tevin Campbell are already part of the cast. Darlene Love! She sang “Marshmallow World” for heavens sake. And Tevin Campbell: the early promise child of the New Jack Swing? Count us in. Frankly, we’re amazed it took us this long to get on board with this musical.
