We have to credit our obsessive Tivo viewing of “The Daily Show” for this one. Show humorist Lewis Black had a particularly funny segment about Conservapedia, a conservative based version of Wikipedia.
What defines Conservapedia? Well nothing, really. I mean most of the definitions for things are basically the same, perhaps with a slight right winged edge to them. But the true dividing line between “normal” Wikipedia and Conservapedia is when you run a search for “gay.”
The Conservapedia definition for homosexuality is thus:
“…an immoral sexual lifestyle between members of the same sex. It is more than simply a sexual act, it is going beyond the boundaries that God has setup for marriage; one man and one woman.”
Huh.
The culture wars are far from over my dear friends. In fact, they are stronger than ever now that Obama and Hillary are raking in the dough and the Republican’s most popular choice right now is an ex-mayor of New York who (sort of) supports gay rights.
We of course tried to edit in some entries of Conservapedia, most notably “American football” and “pie.” We were blocked after making our football entry, which made a big stink about end zone dances being gay and blasphemous. But I bet your IP will go unrecognized so feel free to login and add some gay-tastic entries for the Conservapedia gang.
