Enrique Iglesias Intimidated by G.A.Y.

We all were a little nervous about our first gay experience. So why should Enrique be any different? The Latin lover was said to be terrified over his first ever performance at renowned London club G.A.Y. last month.

“It was my first time performing at a gay club. But I didn’t know what to expect. You get nervous, you have this adrenaline, you’re going to perform for 3,000 gay men -- you don’t know if they’re going to be silent, if they’re going to boo you.”

Enrique, what can we tell you? 3,000 gay men are never silent. They might have booed you, but never silent.

The singer, who has been in a long-term relationship with Russian former tennis standout Anna Kournikova, has certainly made some ripples in the gay community of late. His show at G-A-Y was seen as a gamble by some, including his manager who was surprised by his wanting to do the performance.

“I loved it,” said Enrique. “It’s funny, the owner called my manager and said, ‘We figured Enrique is probably going to say no …’ And I said, ‘Yeah. Are you kidding me?’ “I know the gay audience is very loyal. The first person I called was him. I was like, ‘Man, guess what we’re doing.’ He was like, ‘We gotta do it. It’s going to be great.’ When I went on stage, they were singing so loud I couldn’t hear myself. My ears were ringing for two days, I promise.”
