Looks like those pesky “activist judges” are at it again. Weehaw!
Thursdsay night, a Polk County judge ordered local officials to grant marriage licenses to six gay couples. The ruling paved the way for same-sex marriage to be performed in the county, but applicable state-wide.
And well, of COURSE folks went about protesting it. This is the Hawkeye state. They don’t miss a beat. The County attorney (a one Mr. John Sarcone) said that the case would find it’s way to the state Supreme Court. Sure, of course, nobody expected differently.
We can't wait for the already-started-quote-machine to start rolling out from Congressmen, and pundits and our trusty "activist Executive Branch."
And well, by late Friday, the state had halted the newly found equality with the usual amount of mumbo-jumbo and "tarnation, that can't happen here!"
But, while we wait for more news to roll in, we thought we'd leave you with a series of quotes from those who were able to make it through the breif window of opportunity.

WHOA ladies, watch your tone... I live in Chicago now, but I was raised in Iowa. There are many awesome GLBT people in Iowa and plenty of awesome straight allies in Iowa. Iowa (all save last election) is a BLUE STATE. Please do not paint the good, well educated, well rounded people of Iowa with such a wide brush. We all aren't characters from "Hee Haw". Hey, we got one couple married at least. That's better than most states. just sayin'...
ED NOTE: We meant no harm, honestly. Nor did we mean to lump Iowans into a homophobic pile. We were referring to the usual rabble of fools like John Sarcone and the like. Those that will undoubtedly oppose something so important as full equality. We're fully behind you, and remain hopeful and vigilantly at your side. Our apologies that we weren't clearer about that. On a more personal note, we are HUGE fans of your podcast. Keep up the good work gang.

Thanks for the clarification, that is very much appreciated. Iowa gets a bad sigma and the John Sarcone's of the world don't do anything to help it. It really is a good state, for real. Also, thanks for listening! we love Bravo and OutZoneTV, it's really great what you do for our community.
