Rent ended it's twelve year run Sunday, making it the seventh longest running musical on Broadway. NPR has a short commentary on the show, questioning whether or not it was so dated that it had become less meaningful. We can't help but take a little umbrage at that idea. Is La Boheme also out of date and out of style? The queer and HIV+ positive characters in Rent still exist (albeit it not in the East Village). Not everyone these days is all Gossip Girl. We for one will mourn and remember fondly our Rent experiences.
