As in, he points out something even more terrifying and upsetting than the passing of Proposition 8. The Arkansas ban on adoption by anyone who is “cohabitating outside a valid marriage." Obviously this affects both gay and straight people but was specifically passed to thwart "the gay agenda." And who does it actually hurt? Yes, already abused and neglected children in the system. This is much more enraging than the marriage ban in California and ultimately much more frightening.
He ends his OpEd in the NYTimes with this scary paragraph that doesn't seem at all paranoid or unjust considering the circumstances, "Most ominous, once “pro-family” groups start arguing that gay couples are unfit to raise children we might adopt, how long before they argue that we’re unfit to raise those we’ve already adopted? If lesbian couples are unfit to care for foster children, are they fit to care for their own biological children?"
Holy crap.
