According to our highly scientific poll on the site, a lot of you are still really upset over the passing of Proposition 8. We too, have tried to move on but can't quite. So we're going to offer up a couple of recent articles for your consumption as well as a few more opinions.
Many of you have probably grabbed on to the astounding piece of news that over 70% of the black community in California voted for Proposition 8. We've seen some pretty horrendous interpreting of this piece of information in online forums and comment sections. Well here's a piece with a counterview by Jasmyne Cannick from the LA Times. We agree with her point about other problems being more important than gay marriage, especially in the black community. But we think she's missing the larger picture. Even if we don't care about the right of gay marriage (which some of us personally do not), it has become a civil rights issue, whether she or the black community thinks so or not.
And here's another LA Times piece about supporter of Prop 8 in Orange County and some of their thoughts on the protests. Know thy enemy, right? They're not quite as evil as one might think.
