We spoke with the "Project Rungay" boys, and they are simply darling. They've become the men behind the super-popular "PR" fan-site thanks to their hilarious coverage of all things "Runway."
We're huge, stupid, ridiculous fans of yours, we read it all the time. Who the hell are you people?
We're Tom and Lorenzo..
OZ: Where are you located?
Lorenzo: We're in Philly.
Tom:It's the Jan Brady of the East Coast.
OZ: What made you start doing this?
Lorenzo: Laura. We just love that woman. She's basically the reason we started the blog, believe it or not. When the season started, we saw Laura and said, "We love this woman, we have to find a way to talk about her."
Tom: I want to have drinks with her.
Lorenzo: Oh my God, I just want to shop with her. I just want to go shopping with her.
Tom: We really just love the show, and we didn't feel like there was anybody out there giving the bitchy gay take on it.
Lorenzo: People do a lot of recaps and stuff but nothing like what we do. We love the show, and now that we have the time to do more, we figured, why not?
Tom: Plus the wild crush on Tim Gunn.
Lorenzo: We just love him.
Tom: And it's not just ... I mean, Tim is gorgeous, and I think we've pretty much alluded to that, but we really mean it when we say that Tim is a role model for gay men.
Lorenzo: And not just gay men. Any men.
Tom: True, but the gay community does not hold up mature men as role models often enough and here's one that's just got it goin'on and is well respected in his career and what's not to love and respect and aspire to - when it comes to Tim Gunn?
OZ: The diction alone.
Tom: And the posture!
Lorenzo: And then after we read your interview with him where he openly talks about being gay, and how fabulous it is to be gay, it just makes it better.
And you met him last week!
After he made an outfit for Vincent's sister, Robert Best was auffed from Project Runway far sooner than we would have liked. Our comment boards were flooded with fans who both loved Robert for his wit (and his t-shirts) and fans who thought he was a "trash-talker." We caught up with him to see how he was holding up.
Overall, how did Project Runway go for you?
Great. Overall it was great, no regrets, no bad feelings -- nothing. I think I can definitely say it was very positive and continues to be so, which is amazing.
So what are you doing now?
I'm back with Barbie. I'm working at Mattel, where I came from and they were kind enough to take me back. They saw the footage and they weren't horrified. It's been remarkable, actually, because it's something I was always conscious of when I was doing the show. I said, "You're not coming out as the spokesman for Mattel or Barbie, but you still kind of represent that to a degree. So you can't be a complete psychopath. It just wouldn't do."
So to get back and have executives congratulate me and tell me I did a good job and I did the company proud - there's satisfaction in that.
