Was anyone shocked that Michael Knight won the fan favorite award? I was more surprised to read yesterday that someone named an elementary school after our Brainiac in Chief, Prezzy Bush! (Is that fitting, or what?) I spoke to Michael around 6pm yesterday as NYC went from a summer day to a crispy fall evening. -- Andy Cohen (who blogs HERE)
YOU'RE IN NEW YORK RIGHT NOW, RIGHT?
Yes. I'm in a hotel and me, Jeffrey, and Uli are all staying next to each other.
THAT'S FUN. IS IT NICE TO BE HERE IN NYC AS A SUPERSTAR?
Yeah, I have just been hanging out with some of my friends. I wasn't expecting anyone to notice me in this huge city, but I've had a few good sightings.
WHAT QUALIFIES AS A GOOD SIGHTING?
Just when people say they love you and love your work and you've inspired them and have motivated them. That's so cool.
FAN FAVORITE, HUH? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU?
It felt really good. It's so cool that the fans like me and understand my work. No matter what any of the designers say or what anyone thinks, I think it's a testament to who I am as a person and people understanding me. I think also I have some fans of my design aspect. I love to see my work accepted by the masses, which is what we all want as a designer. I hope those fans will turn into customers and clients!
WITHOUT GIVING ANYTHING AWAY ABOUT THE OUTCOME -- WHAT WAS IT LIKE SHOWING AT BRYANT PARK?
It was amazing to show at Bryant Park. We showed the same day as Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, and Jay McCarroll! I've always known I would show there but I was so excited to see it actually happen. I was doing it!

cathy nunn: "I WAS THRILLED TO SEE LEISHA'S PHOTO AS I PERUSED VARIOUS WEB SITES. ANOTHER SHOW WITH HER WIT AND ILENE..."

yai: "Happy Birthday :)"

I love Michael but I don't believe he's being completely honest about his sexuality! Don't get me wrong, either way I love everything about him and it really doesnt matter. But I believe he along w/ many others, are letting society dictate what the norm should be. Think about how many celebrities play the "straight" life and years down the road they decide to come out of the closet. I know that I wasn't the only one who's gaydar went off the 1st episode and I'm not even gay! I only wish that people would be honest w/ themselves and love who they are not only behind close doors.
Oh- and I LOVED how Andy tried the real subtle approach to asking the "girlfriend" question. We all knew what he really wanted to ask.
