Wow. And thank you.

I can’t believe that there’s been such a response to a few little blogs. You all sure know how to make a boy feel special (and yes, sometimes a little creeped out). So in return I thought I’d address some of the fashion concerns/questions a few of you have asked. Please don’t consider these ideas the end-all-be-all, but loose guidelines to follow if found wandering aimlessly through the twisting turns and long, looming hallways of the ever-dominating world of fashion… carry on!

Daniel,
Great blog, now here's my question: I am 5'5" 120 pounds, 28 inch (have been since high school and that was over 20 years ago) what type of swimsuit would look best on my frame? Like you I usually do the mid thigh trunks. Have I been right?
Thanks, Michael

Michael,
Thanks for reading, and yes, you seem to be on the right track with the mid-thigh choice of swimwear.

danielv_shorts2_320x .jpgWith a shorter frame it’s important to keep length into consideration, if you go too long you may look stunted and bottom heavy, so the mid-thigh length is a great choice for you. Also, with a 28” waist it seems that you’re in fairly fit shape and don’t have to worry about covering up “problem areas,” so don’t be afraid of adding some color or a fun print to draw wandering eyes to that lean body!

[Side note: For all men and women, a great rule to follow when thinking about proportions on your body, is the rule of thirds: Neck to waist, waist to knees and knees to feet. If you have a longer torso/shorter legs or vice-versa it’s simply using shape and proportion to even things out and give the illusion that everything is harmoniously where it should be. Have you ever seen a girl with super low-rise jeans, or a guy wearing extremely long board shorts, and thought they looked unusually short and squatty? A great stomach can’t hide the fact that your eyes get drawn so far down, and that makes the legs look out of proportion and the torso elongated … so unless you’re a waif-like 6-foot-tall model, leave extreme proportions alone.]

I'd love to say that I'm not another rabid fangirl, but I am. All through Project Runway, I was hoping you would win. I think all of the clothes you wore and designed are stunning! After the finale, there was a group of about thirty people (there were actually quite a few guys in the group, too:) ) at my school talking about how you deserved to win. We spent the rest of the day talking about it in between class breaks and during lunch. Also, one of my best friends has an uber hge crush on you (though she just might kill me for telling you.) You are amazing!

Hey Daniel! I LOVE your designs. Specifically those pants at the Project Runway final show...the ones that were really wide at the top and then tapered on the bottom...They were AMAZING! I thought that you should've won (not that I didn't like Chloe) and I think that you should keep on keeping on in the fashion world. I am an amature designer myself, and you being so young and making it has just inspired me more. THANK YOU!!!!!!

Hi Daniel,
I'm the winning bidder of the sketch of the dress you designed for Chloe. I framed both pages on a dark blue background & I put the "Daniel Vosovic" logo centered on top, with the "Project Runway" logo on the lower right hand corner. It looks awesome! I have it hanging in my bedroom & my friends love it.
I have to admit that I don't know much about fashion, but there is something sexy & cool about a talented guy who's great at what he does & is out there doing his thing. That inspires me to do my thing (screenwriting). Thanks for the inspiration & continued success!

Hello Daniel!I absolutely love your designs. It came down to such a close call on project runway. I was hoping you'd come out on top but I know your the sweet guy that will pull through and make your fashion popular no matter what. I personally am an artist. I do mostly pencil work. I have a facination with beauty and I think that's why you were my favorite. Your sketches for your fashion is so gorgeous that I always wanted to buy them from you. If I ever meet you in person we must work out a deal for them. I may even pay you to design at least one line of clothes for me. Keep going and don't lose touch with the public and the little people looking upto you today will be your biggest customers tomorrow.

Love you so much Daniel, Cathleen

First I would like to say congrats to you, Daniel on your success on Project Runway, I really, REALLY wanted you to win! Anyway, I am a New York City native (secretly hoping to see you one day in the area) and I would like to know when and where I can purchase some of your wonderful designs. Also, whats it like going from complete obscurity to being recognized all over the place? How do you feel about it? And, I have a body shape like those old coke bottles (small waist, big hips) what can I wear to minimize the impact of my hips? And lastly, what events do you attend in the NYC area, that a fan like myself can meet you in person? Finally, just wanted to also let you know that your website is wonderful and I am so proud of you and wishing you more success than all the Project Runway contestants combined. Thanks in advance to responding to my questions, and have a great and safe summer.

Dear Daniel,

Amazing. That's basically all I really should say (in order to spare you from a long, probably endlessly boring story.) However, since I have the chance to say more, I think I'll take it. So, first of all, I'd like to say that you are positively my favorite designer on Project Runway. Although, from the look of your comments on these blogs, it seems like you’re the favorite with many people, and you've heard just about every thing I could ever say a thousand +1 times. So, now that I've rambled on, I should probably close this up before it becomes a page long. What I mean to say is, you are an amazing boy with some great talent, and if I weren't totally broke, (hey, I'm a teenager, besides getting a job, there's not much I can do about the money situation) I'd actually ask if you could custom design something (although, (one) you probably wouldn't, and (two) I'm probably the furthest thing from a model you could ever meet... although I do suppose I could hang it on my wall...) Anywho, again with the rambling, sorry.
I'll cut it short. You're an amazing person, you have some great talent, and I hope you get where ever it is you want to be with your designing. =)

I absolutely love fashion myself (I would even love being in the runway! but modeling is just so expensive!), As a 'wannabe fashion designer' I have my own drawings already, and I was able to buy a sewing machine, and I love it, regardless of how many times it stops and how noisy it might be.
I am not able to go to a design high school since there are none around... so where would you advice me to start off, at my age?
I love your collection! I'm sure I dont even NEED to say 'keep up the good work' because you will!

Hi, Daniel! I loved your collection I saw on Project Runway and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you in the future. I just had a fashion question I hoped that you could answer. Many of the young women at the university I am attending (in California) have that "California girl" look, with the blonde hair (natural or otherwise) and the golden (tanned) skin. I, however, look more like I belong in the sixteenth century English nobility, with dark hair and very fair skin, which in the past has made me self conscious about wearing shorts and shorter skirts (I don't tan, I freckle!). How can I embrace my differences and perhaps show them off fashion-wise? What shades/colors usually go well with my coloring? Thanks! I'm so glad that you have this blog so that you can connect with all of those who are inspired by you and seek your advice! Even though I may not have a future career in fashion in particular, witnessing your innovation and creativity on Project Runway encouraged me to explore my own artistic side and believe in it. Keep up the good work! You are an extremely talented (and might I say, handsome!) individual. You should be very proud!

I mean before college and the show. I have to make important decisions in this upcoming year and i just don't know what to do. I love fashion and on a recent flight to the west coast bought another 6 fashion magazines in addition to the 5 i had already brought! But other than a sketch book and a head full of ideas I don’t know where to start. I just hope that project runway is still around when I’m 21 so maybe I can have a shot. Hey cuz! I wish I'd have known when you were in the D because living in Ann Arbor, Matt and I are only a hop, skip, and a jump away! Sounds like you were rather swamped at the time though, but it would've been nice to get a hug in since I haven't seen you since family xmas. Maybe Matt and I can put some money aside and make a trip to NYC sometime.

Your fan-base is spectacular! It's still weird to have a quasi-famous cousin - though it must be far more surreal for you. I've actually had people freak out about meeting ME since we're related, which I must say was quite an odd experience! But your fans are mostly endearing (though sometimes a bit creepy) and I can't say how proud I am of you. Since I'm not even sure if you read these personally I should probably drop you an email or something but I thought it'd be fun to post on here. :)

While some have ambitions of being designers, I think I'll stick being an avid BUYER of your designs. My serious question for you is: How are you so cool??? At the season premier reality shows, I pick out the person I want to be the winner (usually someone sassy but sweet and opiniated, i.e. you. Not to be confused with whiny, bitchy and Santino.).
