Party Overdose: Marc Jacobs, Raven, Andy Cohen

Why is it that I’m already exhausted from an overdose of holiday parties, and Christmas and New Years haven’t even happened yet?

On top of last week’s usual hectic workweek, I had my own work party to attend (by the way, I’m designing for this great new label, read more about it on www.bravotv.com!) my boyfriend Kieran’s work party, but also a slew of holiday shindigs hosted by some of New York’s finest … including our very own Andy Cohen. In fact, I’m writing this blog just after arriving back from a party thrown by my neighbor four floors down, you won’t believe the spread they prepared!

So in case you haven’t read, I’m now head designer at a budding design company called Raven, it’s a great place with some amazing opportunities ahead and I can’t be more thankful or ecstatic for this to have worked out the way it has. Anyways, we had our holiday work party at this great steakhouse called Old Homestead down in the meatpacking district, a perfect place for gnawing on a 20 lb piece of cow. Needless to say it wasn’t the best place to bring a vegetarian, which Kieran is, but I told him that he MUST come and play “best boyfriend ever” so my bosses would fall in love with him and thus love me even more.

Not always the most simple of tasks…I know.

So Kieran and I arrive, find two empty seats after introducing him to the five people I know, when I see my boss walk in (a great guy: fun, workaholic, passionate, but still, he’s my boss) and plop down at the seat right across from us. The only thing I can think is “Kieran, please don’t be weird, please don’t be weird”.

Now, for those of you who don’t know Kieran personally, you either love him immediately, or you love him within a few minutes of meeting him. Unafraid to speak his mind, his opinions, or show his quirky sensibility; the best things I love about Kieran are sometimes the things people can get initially turned off by … so, you see my hesitation was just. After discussing everything from love, life and politics (always a slippery subject) with not only my direct boss, but the owner of the company, I had no idea whether they thought Kieran was drunk or simply peculiar … mostly because they kept asking “Kieran, are you drunk?”… which he wasn’t. Sigh…

Haha.. that is so funny that they would keep asking him if he was drunk. I know someone like that, and he's absolutely wonderful to be around.

Hey Daniel!

I read so much and heard so much about Marc Jacob's masquerade recently! I really hope I can be able to attend one of these magnificent parties one day! Seems like you've been busy partying lately. Have a wonderful time back home! Happy Holidays!

Much love,
Pauline.

Hey Daniel,
NY is such a great place. One does not have to be a celebrity to actually have all the fabulous parties in town. Im not a celebrity but I can say that parties in NY are just fabulous.
However, all good things come to an end. I guess our paths would not cross and I wont be able to show my friends my pictures with you in NY as I am leaving best city right after Xmas for good :(
Congratulations on your new job babe!!!

Kieran sounds like such a fun character! My sister once told me after reading your blogs that as long as you two are together, she will continue to believe in love. =D

Best wishes for the holidays!

You rock out loud, Daniel V. I love your designs, so when I start to see Raven tags around I'm going on a shopping spree. I'm crazy jealous of all the parties you get to go to. If I make it as a make up artist I'll be able to see what that glamorous lifestyle is like. Best of luck in your ab fab career, and you have my love.

Hello Daniel!
Im sure you get this every day, so I apologize before hand for being so cliche. So, my mom had been obsessing over Project Runway since the first season, and at that time I just thought to myself. "Wow. A show about people making dresses. That's got to be the stupidest thing they've come up with ever, save possibly electric staplers." Well, one day towards the end of season two I had to stay home sick from school, and my mother, being the dear woman that she is, forced me to watch an episode with her. I loved it.
Naturally, you were my favorite contestant seeing as it that your clothes rocked beyond all belief. Plus, there was the small detail that you are a fellow Michigander. A actually became so involved in the show that I cried at the finale when you came in second.
In any case, I've been drawing designs and such non-stop since then. I've always loved music and art and fashion design to me is like both (if that made any sense at all). I can't believe I haven't started until now.
I'm not very good yet, but I figure I still have time. Heck, I'm only 14. Well, to get to my point *finally* I just wanted to say thanks for being an inspiration to me.
Have a wonderful holiday season in the amazing state of Michigan.
