If you happened to catch a blog of mine from October on www.bravotv.com, discussing the planning and execution of my best friend’s surprise birthday party in the park, you’d know that the next one on the b-day list was my good friend Mike. So if you read about the amount of layers and planning that went into Anna’s birthday, you know that the gauntlet had been laid and my group of friends and myself had a lot to live up to.
Let it be known that Mike was turning 25 yrs old, teaches 9th grade math at an international school, is a loyal friend and great boyfriend (to the adorable Ali), and is simultaneously working on his masters degree. Needless to say the boy needed a break – and we intended on giving it to him!

Ali, being the thoughtful girlfriend that she is, wanted to surprise Mike with theatre tickets… well… come to think about it, it was more like tickets to the “theatre”. Unbeknownst to us, Slava’s Snow show wasn’t nearly as impressive as its name implies, in fact, I thought it was horrible. Some of my friends had witnessed this spectacle before and assured me that it was like nothing I had ever seen before. When I mentioned that I had previously seen Cirque du Soleil, in which I’d heard it compared to in regards to the lonely clowns and theatrical lighting, they guaranteed that “No, no, no, this was a lot different!”
Sigh…

i'm soooo jealous i don't have one of those hats! **goes to 'party city' to become festive*** ok, i'm back, and wearing a festive party hat now too. yay. oh, it sure sounds like that theatre experience was traumatic. i'm anticipating that your "eyesore of a performance" quote will not end up in their advertisements...but you never know. it is billboard worthy. thanks for the entertainment! –t

LOL well that sucks that SLAVA's snow show wasn't as spectacular as I would have thought. I'm a HUGE Cirque guy myself. Quiz me on anything and I'll answer right away correctly.
There's a very slow 5 minute clown act in Cirque's Alegria that was inspired from Slava's snow show. I guess if I couldn't handle much of those 5 minutes I wouldn't be able to handle an entire production of just a bunch of paper blowing in my face.
Nothing can compare to a Cirque show.
Catch a show with ya in the future! :P
