I know it’s so late to be writing this blog about a Christmas present I gave, but I just had to share it with you because I thought it was such a cute idea you may want to steal it from me … like I did from Amy Sedaris.

My boyfriend Kieran is quite the creative soul, and the last thing I would ever expect to get him would be something along the lines of, let’s say, a gym membership or a DVD. Now there’s nothing wrong with a year of Equinox or the unrated/uncut version of “American Pie 10: Boobs, Breasts and Knockers”… it just isn’t for him, and with him saying things like “You’re reeeally going to like your gift” to me, I was starting to really feel the pressure.

I had gone home to MI for a week during Christmas, and I knew that I had seven days to figure something out for my man. Something good – NAY, something great. So as I’m wandering around the local Barnes & Nobles I come across a fully stocked shelf holding none other than the side-splitting cookbook by Amy Sedaris I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence (there were quite a few copies, I think the hometown isn’t ready for her yet). Needless to say I love her and her insane wit and dry humor, and quickly grabbed a book and plopped down for a quick read. Now if you’ve seen the book, you know that the photographs don’t do much for encouraging one’s appetite, but I nevertheless found exactly what I had unknowingly been searing for … felt cutouts. Pics of inanimate objects cut out of felt and crudely embellished with thick yarn in primary colors – I loved it and knew Kieran would as well.

So now that I had the inspiration I needed an idea. So where does one turn when desperate for some creative stimulation???

Everyone answer with me know…

Hi Daniel! I had a question for you. How do you help a friend come out to his family? I've known him forever and he is desperately unhappy keeping this from them! Do you have any advice? Thank You and I hope you are very happy with Kieran!

Wow, that is just such an adorable idea. I may have to try it. I don't think I've ever posted on your blog before, but... I just wanted to say that you are such an amazing designer and it seems an amazing person. ;D (I mean, I don't know you personally or anything, but... from what I've seen.) I really respect you, and wish you the best of success in all your endeavors! You have really changed my perspective on fashion and inspired me to try my hand at it as well.
