Hello Friends and Family, Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday and 2007. Here is a quick blurb in Wine Spectator Online about me coming to NY in February, 2007

http://www.winespectator.com/Wine/Free/0,3739,162,00.html

Hope to see you all there and I will keep you posted on opening events, etc. My Los Angeles restaurant, Bandolero will be opening Summer 2007 as long as construction stays on track. Thanks for all of your support.

Sincerely, Dave

Eat, Drink and Be Merry… Episode 8

December 20, 2006

The curtains roll up and we find ourselves in the kitchen with a mixologist from Oysters (a little restaurant down in Corona Del Mar between Newport and Laguna, my old stomping grounds). The quick fire is to use Baileys in a pre-dinner cocktail; doesn’t sound too horrible but with the time constraints and knowing that Baileys really isn’t something I want to start my meal off, ever

Let’s see how the chefs do it:

We have a wide array of desserts being made from petit fours and the like down to some more savory creations like Cliff’s grilled beef, Mia’s mango and brie and Ilan’s matzo cakes. Let’s not forget Betty’s curdled cocktail and scallop creation, bad news, yikes. Mia and Betty both get bad marks from the judge on garnish and overall entry, accordingly. Kudos goes to Cliff, Sam and Michael and immunity being handed to Cliff for his winning mix of beef and Baileys.

I love New York ... I mean I Do, I Really, Really Do (Part One of Deux)

December 15, 2006

I’m baaaackkk. Finally, I’m like the energizer bunny and I keep going and going and apologies for being so behind in this blog but with my schedule and my weekly Top Chef blog, it’s been tough.

davemartin_lola2_320x240.jpg"Top Chef: Season One" has been off the air since May (except for the reruns) and I’ve got to tell you something: my life just keeps getting better and better. More and more people are tracking me down offering me good jobs, bringing me in to cater for them as well as several paid personal appearances.

I am soooo fortunate and I need to again say, “THANK YOU” to all of my friends and family who have always believed in me as well as my newfound friends, fans that have rallied in support of all my efforts and me. I’m actually starting to believe more and more in myself each day and I tell you what it’s a good thing and I recommend it to all of you. It’s been a long road, but I am truly starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel. I think that things just might end up working out for me in 2007 and maybe some day soon I will be able to shed the title of ‘welfare celebrity’.

But there is still a lot more work ahead in order to get to where I want to be and I am up for it. So, what’s up you ask?

Time for me to share and spill the beans.

Eggsactly. That's what I thought.

Well, now that we are all coming off our turkey high and ridding ourselves of the Tryptophan fairy, it’s back to the TC2 crew for a dysfunctional Beach Blanket Bingo (sans Frankie and Annette).

But before we hit the sand, time to make it through a non-fired Quickfire Challenge with the Chef from Jiraffe in Santa Monica. We start the show by hearing some of the contestants boast about being "a force" and being "on a roll." I think that people are starting to build confidence now that numbers are dwindling, although not fast enough based on several of the comments from you TC bloggers, myself included.

Let’s move things along and eliminate three in one episode and get down to business. I think that by starting with 15 contestants it has made it difficult to really get attached to the contestants and figure out who they are as people.
