Top Design 8: Welcome to The Hotel California

As the finale nears, I find that there’s less on "Top Design" to make fun of. Do you notice that … or am I just getting lazy? As far as the four remaining designers go -- Matt, Andrea, Carisa and Goil -- it’s serious business.

The challenge this time around is to design a boutique hotel room inspired by one of the four elements; earth, air, fire and water. I was hoping that the hotel rooms would be inspired by one of the girls from “The Facts of Life.”

“Damn, I got Natalie,” someone would say. “I’m so screwed.”

“I’ve never designed a hotel room before but I have been in a few of them,” says Goil, which is all my roommate Tony needed to hear at this point. As I’ve previously written, he’s besotted with the king of the man-curtsies. And now he’s talking about hotel rooms!

I almost cried when Goil got eliminated. I even TiVo-ed it, so that I could relive the moment a couple more times. I watched the "What What Happens" live interview right after the show ended, and it was said that there will be no TD reunion. After TD, Shear Genius will be put up. Ugh, I miss Goil already

I laugh at your constant ripping of Kelly's gear, hair options etc. as she has been very vocal in her support of Goil in past episodes. I loved her Vivienne Westwood wanna-be ensemble last week myself.

Also, what is the big deal about Jonathan Adler? I think he's ridiculous myself (and his design work isn't anything to right home about. Blech!). He's two scarfs away from Paul Lynde in his own ensembles as well. Now, who's a stereotype, eh?

I wasn't really into his hotel room this week but I still think he is THE best designer and I'd be so lucky if he would agree to work on my living space.
