Sometimes I come across fun, smart, sometimes gay -- sometimes not -- people who do interesting jobs in the world of entertainment. I’d like to introduce you to a couple of them now in a new feature I’m calling Take 5 because they each get five questions. See how that works?

First up is Edward Boyd, a fellow pop culture junkie I met in step-aerobics class in the 90’s. (Geez, remember step?) He’s worked that the E! Channel as long as I’ve known him but now, he’s running the show at “The Soup” as Executive Producer. “I’m really proud of our staff for making “The Soup” a show people are talking about again,” he tells me. “The best part of my job is we get free bagels on Thursdays. The toughest part is I’m trying not to eat carbs.”

1) Has “The Soup” ever got in trouble with the celebs or shows you've made fun of?

Hmmmm, how should I answer this? I have to be careful. The short answer is “yes.” There was one multi-media diva-saurus that was not happy with us calling her out. I can’t really get more specific since I don’t want to find a rabbit with a bad weave boiling on my stove at some point.

2) Any fellow E! personalities ever get miffed at you?

We were pretty brutal to “Taradise,” but that was yanked before Tara Reid could find our cubicles. We do poke fun at Ryan Seacrest’s 20 jobs, huge salary and sparkly highlights but he’s got a great sense of humor and has done stuff for the show. I think E!’s lucky to have him.
