He was good in "The Departed" but who is going to see "Blood Diamond"? Bad title, good subject, cheesy action, dumb effects. And Jennifer Connolly. Eww!!!

Anyway: the take away is that four films received seven nominations each for Critics' Choice Awards

BTW: Who are these "critics"? Not that we disagree with them, but .. it would be good to know.

''The Departed,'' ''Babel,'' ''Little Miss Sunshine'' and ''Dreamgirls'' have each collected seven nominations for the 12th annual Critics' Choice Awards. All four films got a nomination for best picture.

Oscar Watch Part 1: Flags of Our Fathers

If only Clint Eastwood would make a super hot gay movie. We think he's genius. Come on. The guy turn The Bridges of Madison County into a wonderful film. Of course, Meryl Streep helped, but.

So maybe his film, Letters From Iwo Jima, the second half of Clint Eastwood's two-part look at World War II, deserved the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures' pick as the best film of 2006.

Also on the list, announced Wednesday: Flags of Our Fathers, in which Eastwood shows the aftermath of war through the eyes of the military men who raised the American flag during the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Other picks that get our gay-stamp of approval: Little Miss Sunshine and The Queen.
