Kiss and Make Up ... or Make Up and Kiss?

March 27, 2007

There was an expressed concern from many people about the dynamic of my relationship with Doug when the last episode ended. Well ... many will be pleased to know that Doug and I made up brilliantly and picked up the pieces of our relationship, and began our friendship on fresh footing.

The biggest lesson I have ever learned is to be careful with your words. But if I am too careful -- then what kind of reality show would we have here?!

jesse_202_101_320x240.jpg

Onto main concern #2 that people have with me: THE FAT ISSUE. Let's just say, after the dunk tank, it was expressed that I need to get my ass in gear ... so all I will say is "THIS COULD BE A GREAT SET-UP FOR A COME-BACK STORY," so stay tuned and get off my back already!!!

Glad to see that you and Doug worked everything out. But I almost freaked out when he asked you to go home with him. I think youre so damn fine and want to go out with you myself. And by the way, some of us arent turned off by a little around the middle. You can cook for me anytime. One last thing, you never answered Dougs last question.....

So glad you made up with Doug!

You are such an inspiration. i am a gay male and i was in tears for weeks when i heard the comments that doug made about you... and your speech in episode 1 of this season about not creating tension/segregation within the gay community really hit home to me as i am a pretty femmine acting guy... i was once again in tears.

thanks for being you...

btw, as someone that has truly struggled with their weight i have to say you are NOT FAT... NOT EVEN CLOSE...

I'm sooo glad you guys made up before the untimely death of Doug. I had a personal experiance were my child's father and I had a nasty separation and a few months after he left the states he was killed. I always had hopes that he would grow up and he could come back to his daughter's life but, it never happened. Is the wourse feeling you can carry the rest of your like. I still do and it has been 15yrs! That is why is very important that ANY missundestanding is cleared before is too late. And people STOP messing with Jesse and the weight thing. He will get it under control. He got enough people behind and around him to make sure of that. Best of luck.

Anyway, I was a little shocked to see how your body looked at the beginning of this season. Once I found out you were in culinary school it made a lot of sense. You are a personal trainer so I'm not that worried. I know if you try hard you will be able to get yourself back in shape in no time. I can see where people would be concerned since your body is almost like a showcase of what you can do, but like I said I think you'll be fine.

Don't let any "fat" comments get you down Jesse. I have no doubt you'll be back in shape in upcoming episodes, and then you can gloat about it. :)

I'm glad you and Doug were able to patch things up, and I'm saddened to hear of his passing. I don't think that Doug had ill intentions in his interview, but I want to say that what you said about segregation in our community was really important. Thank you for addressing it!

I do believe that you need to tone up a lot!!! As good of a trainer as you are, you aren't putting your best body forward. Show everyone that you can do it---be even more of an inspiration to people.

You rock and keep on rockin! I think you should be a guest judge on Top Chef!! Would love to see some of your recipes or cooking segments on this website!

Although today’s culture is detrimentally imaged obsessed, I do feel that personal trainers have a responsibility to keep their bodies in optimum shape. Don’t get me wrong, you have a healthy body and if you’re happy with it nothing else should matter but clearly in the first episode we saw you were not comfortable in your own skin. Make use of your knowledge of fitness and food…..who knows you may have your own reality weight-loss spin-off (sorry Jackie).

You are great on the show and you are not fat. Best of luck with your cooking endeavors. Sounds like you have literally made a name for yourself.

I guess the question comes down to whether your appearance as a trainer hinders your ability to get clients. At the end of the day, even if you don't practice what you preach, you could still be a very good trainer. However, it makes sense that Jackie, or any head trainer/gym owner, would want her/their trainers to look the part.

And as for YOU, Jesse... You make the show fun to watch. :D Might I remind you that 21% body fat is still considered healthy, as I believe for both men and women anywhere under 25% is healthy. Sure, it's high for a personal trainer, but it doesn't mean you're not in good shape. Not at all. All of your colleagues are far below the world health organization's malnutrition level, technically. :P You are such a great person and so much fun to watch... I am so sad to hear about Doug... I think both of you were awesome role models... keep going strong!

Jesse - It's great to see more of you on the show, and I wanted to say I think I know where Doug was coming from when he compared you to Jack on Will and Grace - Jack is definitely the most out and most comfortable of the characters with who he is, and he lends a LOT of moral fortitude to Will in many episodes when it comes to being TRULY out. And Jesse, your comments on the segregation within the gay community were RIGHT ON TARGET. As an over-40 and over-weight gay man, I can't tell you how many times I've tried chatting someone up, and the first words out of their mouth was something like, "Sorry..you're not my type." Of course, it IS rather comical to be called 'old' by someone older than myself! :) Keep 'em flying, Jesse! You're AWESOME - and FABULOUS!
