What’s next for you?
What’s next for me? I don’t know. There are so many things right now being thrown at me. Appearing at events, Kathy Griffin and Janice Dickinson’s dresser called me and wanted me to make dresses for them, and then they wanted them in like three days for free. I’m like I have $7 ... I’m just gonna think about all the opportunities and the eventual goal, and I did do a menswear line which you can see on my Web site. I mean going from samples to production is a huge leap, which has been discussed many times over why winners of Project Runway don’t really have their own line. If someone wants to give me $500K -- I would contemplate that. I’ll probably play the demi-celebrity card for a little bit and have fun with it, and then go back to work, like I always have.
You released a statement to “Project Rungay” after some questioned the wisdom of mixed HIV status relationships.
I did. I’m not going to get up on my high horse and I’m not a doctor, I’m just someone whose been living with it for a long time. So, I’ve dealt with every possible scenario of people asking me every possible question, and I just think -- I mean, first of all, before you ask silly questions, you might want to educate yourself because there’s a ton of information out there. I just think sexual activity is a personal issue that I just don’t think it should be publicly discussed. Safer sex is what it is. And I’ve said this on my blog, I had two boyfriends for two years and we did our thing and they were both negative and they still are. So, it can be done.
You’ve actually been able to educate people about that in some way.
Yeah – that’s probably what I’m most proud of. I mean I really love, I think I did great work on the show, and I love the friends that I made, but unfortunately I wasn’t on for as long as I wanted to be, but I do think I made an impact in that arena, and I’m gonna go forward with that, and gonna help to do a lot of HIV education. I think that’s really important.
I get probably anywhere between like 3 or 4 to like a dozen E-mails a day from people that are like “I’m HIV positive and I really applaud of you because I know there’s such a stigma out there and I’ve never told anyone, and now I finally feel like it’s OK.” And those are the moments where you sit back and you go, “Wow I did this for a reason and not just selfish motivation.”

I really like Laura Bennet from a previous season as well....But the talent level this season was phenomenal!! The top 4 were all soooo incredibly creative and innovative....and impeccable craftsmen and craftswomen!! In the end I thought Christian and Jillian were the strongest with Chris Marsh coming in right behind them....Rami is also very talented...I really loved the candy paper dress he made! I love Christian's humility on the final and his aknowledgement of the talent of his competitors...They all seemed to have tremendous respect for one another and I sensed a great deal of camaraderie between them that was very special....I hope that they will all remain good friends now? Great show and awesome finale!!....This from a straight guy too Jack!
